Tour 9: Engagement - The Band of Brothers

First Ask, "What did you see? lets list them…"

  • We looked at Moses and the veil and that we don’t have to wear a veil because the Spirit of God never leaves us

  • And then we looked at the fact that the fullness of God, the triune God lives within us

  • He dwells within us so that we might be enabled to do His will

  • We looked at the command to love one another, that we are to love one another as Jesus loved the disciples

  • We talked about this command being for believers, that it was to be deep, not superficial

  • We saw how that was worked out in the reciprocal commands

  • Del urged us to consider becoming part of a life group, dedicated to each other to love one another

  • We then looked at the second part of love your neighbor: “as yourself” and that often becomes follow your own script

  • We looked at what this means using our definition of agape, that loving myself requires saying no to myself, doing those things that lead to our own shalom as God has made us

    • This led us to thinking about pursuing physical and mental health

    • Pursuing excellence in what I do

    • Pursuing deep relationships

  • We then looked at the obstacles to our own shalom:

    • Pride, all about me, fear

    • Isolation, dependency

    • Doom, gloom, apathy

    • Persistent sins

    • Lack of vision and losing the meta-narrative of God

  • We walked through the vision again

    • Building deep relationships with those providentially in our Jerusalem

    • We will pray for them and act on those prayers

    • We will act with grace and wisdom and truth, being attractively winsome

    • Tear down walls, build up trust, do the work of the kingdom

  • We looked at the grim statistics that had occurred in our culture in the last 10 weeks

  • We live next door to people who are in need and they are providentially placed near us

  • We looked at the story of Josiah tearing his robes and asked if we would do the same

  • Del told the story of the neighbor who built a house behind them and how God will be faithful to answer our prayers to build a relationship with them

  • We contemplated the valley of dry bones and the prayer that God will breathe on us as well to be the light and salt that He has made us to be

  • We ended with the charge from Romans 8, the final episode from The King’s Order, and Del handing out embassy plaques to the students

What else did you see?

Then Ask, "What struck you?"
