Tour 9: Engagement, The Band of Brothers

Tour 9: Pre-Tour

Notes for Leaders

Pray for multiplication.

If the Lord does not put His hands upon what all of us are doing here, then it will go no further than the first generation of small groups. If that happens, then only a small part of the Body of Christ will be engaging their neighbors and the rest will go on as before, disengaged, mostly unfruitful. This is not meant to be a self-serving criticism, but we have already admitted that we have mostly failed at fulfilling the Lord’s command and vision to love our neighbors. The early church did so and He blessed it with rapid and deep growth.

Our prayer is that He will bless us again and that your groups will be fruitful and multiply. One group will spawn a couple more, those will spawn others and soon, as we saw in the “downstream life” it soon becomes an exponential wave. This is the vision, that the Body of Christ will be engaging those providentially around them, all over the world. And that the Lord will deeply bless those engagements, not only in our neighbors, but also in our own families and in our own hearts.

We began talking about what happens when we come into the presence of God: it exposes us and it exposes our culture and it provokes us to engage. The cries of a lost world are all around us. May we have eyes to see, ears to hear, and a heart that believes enough to say, “Here are we, Lord! Send us!”

May it be so.

Soli Deo Gloria!
