Tour 6: The Vision - Engaging with Wisdom
First Ask, "What did you see? lets list them…"
-
We looked at how to engage with grace and wisdom
-
We watched Jay’s story as his family stepped out to meet their neighbors
-
We talked about the promise in James that we would get wisdom if we asked for it, but we often don’t get it
-
And we talked about wisdom not being just for us like the fruit of the Holy Spirit might not be just for us
-
-
We looked at Solomon — God was pleased because he asked for wisdom for the shalom of God’s people
-
Del offered the golden key to getting wisdom
-
If you ask for yourself, you probably won’t get anything
-
If you ask for the shalom of another, you will get it generously
-
-
We looked at Kent and Rosaria Butterfield and how they open their home to others and the surprise they got with Hank
-
We walked through the Col 4 passage and found that the opportunities are Kairos moments and we are to redeem them
-
We talked about how to season our speech with salt and that we need to know how to respond to each person, it is not a canned approach
-
We talked about learning to listen and not prepping for our next words
-
We took a graphical look at the heart and the mind
-
The Scripture presents them both as “thinkers”
-
We talked about the heart being the inner sanctum of the mind, the sum total of those things that we believe to be really real, which then drives how we feel and act and think
-
We talked about the difference between just “knowing something” and “believing something is really real," and about how Jesus isn’t interested in our test scores
-
Jesus connected worry to what we believe
-
We talked about the heart of a child and how John got the young teens to believe a shotgun was dangerous and how Jesus taught the disciples through the reality of calming the storm
-
We talked about how moving truth into our heart is the work of the Holy Spirit but we also have a responsibility to help our neighbor see that the claims of Christ are true because they see the reality of those claims in our lives
-
-
We talked about how long it takes to build up trust and how quickly it can be lost
-
We looked at the spiritual principle that there is a wall between family members when it comes to Christ
-
Del asked the question: whose prodigal son is living next door to you?
-
We looked at being a part of that continued seed line of Christ, bearing a hundredfold, one neighbor at a time
-
And we do this because Christ’s love compels us to do so
