Tour 1: Pre-Tour

Notes for Leaders

Taking Notes

I would encourage you to encourage your guests to not get distracted by taking a lot of notes. A copy of the slides is available to them, so they don’t need to try to capture any of that. If they need to jot a note to remind them of something, that would be good. But our purpose here is not to “learn” a lot of stuff, but to listen to what God is saying to us.

Biblical Literacy

The Engagement Project, as we have earlier said, is meant for the body of Christ. However, you may find that some of your guests don’t know the Bible very well. You will soon discover this, if you don’t know already. I would encourage you to encourage them to do the “Pre-Tour” readings. For Tour 1, there are several verses that would be good for them to read and there are also several stories that, if they aren’t familiar with them, it could be frustrating and discouraging to them. These are also listed in the Student course: Adam hiding from God; Nebuchadnezzar eating grass; Noah building a boat; Jacob wrestling with God. If you know they are lacking a good biblical literacy, encourage them to read these without making them feel lacking.
