Tour 0: Pre-Tour

Notes for Leaders

King’s Order Video

Near the beginning of Tour 0, we have a video that we filmed in Czech Republic. By now, you have already seen it as well as the 2nd and 3rd continuations of the story. It might be good to prepare your guests for this as some have thought they were seeing a film clip and they were distracted by trying to tag it. Tell them they will see something like a parable in video form that was filmed in Czech Republic for the Engagement Project in 2019. Later in the course, they will have the opportunity to see a “behind the scenes” look at that filming, but for now, it is meant to provoke their thinking about the “King’s Order." I hope you and your guests enjoy it!

U. of W. Student Interview

We show an interview about 2/3 through Tour 0 with University of Washington students. This is an excerpt and it really should have been introduced as “The interviewer is trying to get the students to tell him he is not a 6’5” Chinese woman.” If you want, you can pause just before the interview rolls and tell your guests this. It might be helpful to them to know what he was after, since we cut it down and they won’t see all of it.

Biblical Literacy

The Engagement Project, as we have earlier said, is meant for the body of Christ. However, you may find that some of your guests don’t know the Bible very well. You will soon discover this, if you don’t know already. I would encourage you to encourage them to do the “Pre-Tour” readings. For Tour 0, there are several verses that would be good for them to read and there are also several stories that, if they aren’t familiar with them, it could be frustrating and discouraging to them. These are also listed in the Student course: Adam hiding from God; Nebuchadnezzar eating grass; Noah building a boat; Jacob wrestling with God. If you know they are lacking a good biblical literacy, encourage them to read these without making them feel lacking.
