The Center of God’s Law

He requires pure of Heart. The Pharisees practiced “outward only" religion (5) But all their works they do for to be seen of men: they make broad their phylacteries, and enlarge the borders of their garments, (6) And love the uppermost rooms at feasts, and the chief seats in re synagogues, (Mt. 23:5-6)

God’s Law had always required heart service. Jesus Identified the Centrality of the Law.

(36) Master, which {is} the great commandment in the law? (37) Jesus mid unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. (38) This is the first and great commandment. (39) And the second {is} like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself. (40) On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets. (Mt. 22:36-40)

He also honored the "lesser laws” Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye pay tithe of mint and anise and cumin, and have omitted the weightier {matters} of the law, judgment, mercy, and faith: these ought ye to have done, and not to leave the other undone. (Mt. 23:23)

Mercy found prominence in Jesus’ teaching (John. 8:3-11)

God is Good, Love you all.
In Jesus name, amen and amen.
