It’s About Our Hearts
An example of a hard hearted people
The 1st generation of Israelites coming out of Egyptian slavery were told, “don’t be afraid, neither be dismayed. God has set the land before you, go up, take possession.”
They spied out the land and 10 of the spies made their brother’s hearts melt saying: “We are not able to go up against the people for they are greater & taller than we… we are like grasshoppers in our sight & also in their sight.”
They complained against Moses & Aaron, saying, “If only we had died in the wilderness! Why has Jehovah brought us out to this land to die by the sword & our wives & children become victims?
“Would it not be better for us to return to Egypt? Let’s select a leader and return to Egypt.” And all the congregation said regarding Moses, Aaron, Joshua, & Caleb, “…stone them with stones.”
Jehovah heard and was angry and swore, “Surely there shall not be one of these men of this evil generation see the good land,… however, your children, whom you said would be victims… shall go in there, to them I give it and they shall possess it.”
Stephen tells us in Acts 7:51 that they were stiff-necked and had uncircumcised hearts & ears.
Paul tells us (1 Cor 10:1-11) they were our example and “do not [be like them]”
