Can You See A Progression?
Romans 1:5, … obedience [that comes from] faith.
Romans 6:17-18 (WEB) 17 But thanks be to God, that, whereas you were bondservants of sin, you became obedient from the heart to that form of teaching whereunto you were delivered. 18 Being made free from sin, you became bondservants of righteousness.
Romans 5:17 (WEB) 17 For if by the trespass of the one, death reigned through the one; so much more will those who receive the abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness reign in life through the one, Jesus Christ.
Romans 5:16 (WEB) 16 The gift is not as through one who sinned: for the judgment came by one to condemnation, but the free gift came of many trespasses to justification.
Romans 5:18 (WEB) 18 So then as through one trespass, all men were condemned; even so through one act of righteousness, all men were justified to life.
The Progression Goes
-
Faith produces obedience
-
Obedience leads to righteousness
-
Righteousness brings justification
Hebrews 5:8-9 (WEB) 8 though he was a Son, yet learned obedience by the things which he suffered. 9 Having been made perfect, he became to all of those who obey him the author of eternal salvation,
2 Thessalonians 1:5-9 (WEB) 5 This is an obvious sign of the righteous judgment of God,… 6 Since it is a righteous thing with God to repay affliction to those who afflict you, 7 and to give relief to you that are afflicted…, when the Lord Jesus is revealed from heaven with his mighty angels in flaming fire, 8 giving vengeance to those who don’t know God, and to those who don’t obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus, 9 who will pay the penalty: eternal destruction…
