A Global Pandemic
We are in a global pandemic the likes of which nobody alive has ever seen before. It has dramatically changed the way we live our lives. I know many Christians are wondering if this could be a judgment from God and why are good people getting it?
The disasters in the USA alone over the last few years run parallel with the moral decline in our society. We have had: wild fires destroying hundreds of thousands of acres of forest and property, earthquakes, floods, hurricanes and tornadoes.
Isaiah 45 tells us God says,
“I am the LORD, and there is no other, The One forming light and creating darkness, Causing well-being and creating calamity; I am the LORD who does all these.”
God uses natural calamity to judge individuals and nations. In Genesis 7 God destroys the earth with flood water. And in Exodus 7 God brings plagues on Egypt to get Pharaoh to free Israel.
With the final plague the Israelites were given instructions on how to avoid it. The first born son of those who didn’t obey would die
In 1 Chron. 21 there is the story of King David conducting an illegal census that causes God to punish Israel with a plague. David sees the Destroying Angel… casting the plague on the people causing thousands to die and David pleads with God saying, “Please spare the people they are innocent, I am the one who sinned.”
We are told in Mat.5, “For he makes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the just and the unjust.” In God’s great anger with the people, innocents can die. It is up to us to be walking in the light trusting that God will deliver us from calamity and pestilence.
Isaiah 26:20 reads,
“Go into your houses, my people, and shut the door behind you. Hide yourselves for a little while until God’s anger is over."
For peace during this plague, read Psalm 91:1-6.
God be with you and bless you. – JL
