Reflections of 2020

As the year 2020 draws to an end and we reflect back on all that has happened, what a year 2020 has been. We have never experienced anything like it. The elephant in the room of course that can’t help but be noticed was COVID-19. Never in our lifetime has anything changed every aspect of our life like this pandemic.

Sadly it looks as though we will continue to be “plagued” by this pandemic into 2021. Look at the hysteria it has caused the people in the world that have no hope or trust in God. Because of this malevolent virus and the negative effect it has on hopeless people, we have seen; the worst and the best of leadership throughout our land, political strife, civil unrest, and disobedience and violence. Christians have faith in the Holy Living God of Heaven and Earth and we know that he is in control, nothing that has been happening on earth has escaped his attention, and yes, he has been caring for and has been protecting us all the way. Most of the good decisions being made in this country are being made by leaders who acknowledge and believe in God, and so we thank God for them. We see that it is the Godless who are causing all the strife and division in our country, so this behavior doesn’t come as a surprise to us, after-all, hasn’t one of their leaders said, “Never let a good crisis go to waste”? In view of all that is happening around us do not let it change our focus on what is important in this life; our love of God and love for our fellow man.

So as we head into 2021, keep your chin up, mask on and march forward, though maintaining six feet apart and try to keep your sense of humor. Keep in mind Proverbs 17:22 which says, “A cheerful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up your bones.” Do not let what is happening all around us crush your spirits, follow Paul’s advice to the Philippians, “Rejoice in the Lord always! I will say it again, REJOICE!!!” My sister Laura sent me an email that had the year 2020 in review. I found it amusing, so I’m passing on to you.

2020 in Reflection

  1. The dumbest thing I ever bought was a 2020 planner.

  2. 2019: Stay away from negative people. 2020: Stay away from positive people.

  3. The world has turned upside down. Old folks are sneaking out of the house & their kids are yelling at them to stay indoors!

  4. This morning I saw a neighbor talking to her dog. It was obvious she thought her dog understood her. I came into my house & told my cat, we thought it was hilarious.

  5. Every few days try your jeans on just to make sure they fit. Pajamas will have you believe all is well in the kingdom.

  6. Does anyone know if we can take showers yet or should we just keep washing our hands?

  7. This virus has done what no woman has been able to do. Cancel sports, shut down all bars & keep men at home!

  8. I never thought the comment, “I wouldn’t touch him/her with a 6-foot pole” would become a national policy, but here we are!

  9. I need to practice social-distancing from the refrigerator.

  10. I hope the weather is good tomorrow for my trip to the backyard. I’m getting tired of the Living Room.

  11. Appropriate analogy. "The curve is flattening so we can start lifting restrictions now” is like saying “The parachute has slowed our rate of descent, so we can take it off now.”

  12. Never in a million years could I have imagined I would go up to a bank teller wearing a mask & asking for money.

  13. The spread of COVID-19 is based on 2 things:

    1. How dense the population is.

    2. And how dense the population is.
