GODLY FATHERS 2

God

God – Genesis 1:26, 27: "And God said, Let Us make man in our image– after our likeness– and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over the cattle, and over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps upon the earth. And God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; he created them male and female."

Genesis 2:7; "And Jehovah God formed man out of the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life and man became a living soul."

Genesis 2:15-25; "And Jehovah God took the man and put him into the garden of Eden to work it and to keep it. And Jehovah God commanded the man, saying, You may freely eat of every tree of the garden, but from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, you will not eat from it. For in the day that you eat from it, you will surely die.

And Jehovah God said, It is not good that the man should be alone, I will make a helper for him. And out of the ground Jehovah God formed every beast of the field and every bird of the heavens and brought them to the man to see what he would call them; and whatever the man called every living creature, that was the name of it. And the man gave names to all the cattle and to the birds of the heavens and to every beast of the field, but for man there was not found a helper for him.

And Jehovah God caused a deep sleep to fall upon the man and he slept. And God took one of his ribs and closed up the flesh under it. And from the rib, which Jehovah God had taken from the man, he made a woman and brought her to the man. And the man said, This is now bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh. She will be called Woman because she was taken out of Man.

Therefore, a man will leave his father and his mother and will cling to his wife and the two will be one flesh. And the man and his wife were both naked and they were not ashamed."

Adam – Genesis 4:1, 2; "And the man knew Eve his wife and she conceived and bore Cain and said, I have gotten a man with the help of Jehovah. 4:2And again she bore his brother, Abel. And Abel was a keeper of sheep and Cain worked the ground."

Now these are the genealogies of Terah:

"Terah fathered Abram, Nahor and Haran. And Haran fathered Lot. And Haran died before his father Terah in the land of his nativity, in Ur of the Chaldeans. And Abram and Nahor took wives to themselves.

The name of Abram’s wife was Sarai and the name of Nahor’s wife, Milchan, the daughter of Haran, the father of Milcah and the father of Iscah. And Sarai was barren; she had no child. And Terah took Abram his son and Lot the son of Haran, his son’s son, and Sarai his daughter-in-law, his son Abram’s wife.

And they went forth with them from Ur of the Chaldeans, to go into the land of Canaan. And they came to Haran and dwelt there. And the days of Terah were two hundred and five years and Terah died in Haran."

Genesis 18:9, 10 "And they said to him, Where is Sarah your wife? And he said, Behold, in the tent. And he said, I will certainly return to you when the season comes round, and behold, Sarah your wife will have a son. And Sarah heard in the tent door, which was behind him."

Genesis 21:1-3: "And Jehovah visited Sarah as he had said, and Jehovah did to Sarah as he had spoken. 21:2And Sarah conceived and bore Abraham a

son in his old age, at the set time of which God had spoken to him. 21:3And Abraham called the name of his son who was born to him, Isaac, whom Sarah bore to him."

Isaac

Isaac – Genesis 25:19-26 And these are the genealogies of Isaac, Abraham’s son:

Abraham fathered Isaac. And Isaac was forty years old when he took Rebekah to be his wife, the daughter of Bethuel the Syrian of Paddan-aram, the sister of Laban the Syrian. And Isaac entreated Jehovah for his wife because she was barren.

Genesis 25:19 And Jehovah was entreated by him, and Rebekah his wife conceived. And the children struggled together within her. And she said, If it is so, why am I this way? And she went to inquire of Jehovah. And Jehovah said to her, Two nations are in your womb and two peoples will be separated from your guts. And the one people will be stronger than the other people. And the elder will serve the younger. And when her days to be delivered were fulfilled, behold, there were twins in her womb. And the first came out red all over like a hairy garment and they called his name Esau. And after that his brother came out and his hand had hold on Esau’s heel and his name was called Jacob. And Isaac was sixty years old when she bore them.

Genesis 25:27, 28; "And the boys grew. And Esau was a skillful hunter, a man of the field. And Jacob was a quiet man, dwelling in tents. 25:28 Now Isaac loved Esau, because he ate from his game. And Rebekah loved Jacob."

Jacob/Israel – Genesis chapters 28-50.

Moses – Exodus, Leviticus, numbers , and Deuteronomy.

David – 1 Samuel 17:12 – 1 Kings 2:12.

END OF PAGE 5

And after the exile of Babylon, Jechoniah fathered Shealtiel; and Shealtiel fathered Zerubbabel; and Zerubbabel fathered Abiud; and Abiud fathered Eliakim; and Eliakim fathered Azor; and Azor fathered Sadoc; and Sadoc fathered Achim; and Achim fathered Eliud; and Eliud fathered Eleazar; and Eleazar fathered Matthan; and Matthan fathered Jacob; and Jacob fathered Joseph, the husband of Mary, from whom was born Jesus, who is called* the Christ."

The Father

The Father – Matthew 3:13-17; "Then Jesus comes from Galilee to John, to be immersed* by him in the Jordan. But John was preventing him, saying, I have need to be immersed* by you and you are coming to me? But Jesus answered and said to him, Allow it now; for* thus it is suitable for us to fulfill every righteousness. Then he allows him. And Jesus when* he was immersed* , came up immediately from the water; and behold, the heavens were opened to him, and he saw the Spirit of God coming down, like a dove, and coming upon him; and behold, a voice came out of the heavens, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am delighted."

I wish I could go on from here about the great fathers of the bible. These men are the best of the best. These are all fathers and grandfathers that raised good sons, and even bad sons. So, as we are or have raised our children, we too have raised good children and disobedient. But even with our struggles and trials, we fathers, and grandfathers have, (as true believers) raised our children in the way of the Lord, as the fathers of old.

We as fathers and grandfathers, have tried our best to be examples to those who we love from the bottoms of our hearts. From deep in our spirits, and

our minds, Praying that they will follow the Father in Heaven, that they too will have entrance into the Kingdom of Heaven.

Let us as fathers continue to pray and walk in a way that will give the Father all the glory, and our children will also be true believers, and raise there children to do the same, for generations to come.

We are children of the Father through the blood of Jesus Christ. "Then * consequently* , brethren, we are debtors but not to the flesh, not to live according to the flesh; for* if you* live according to the flesh, you* are about to die, but if you* slay the practices of the body in spirit, you* will live. For* as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God. For* you* did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you* received the spirit of sonship, in which we cry, Abba, Father. The Spirit himself is testifying together with our spirit, that we are children of God; and if children, then heirs; indeed, heirs of God and joint heirs of Christ; if indeed* we are suffering together with him, that* we might also be glorified together with him" (Romans 8:12-17).

Conclusion:

It is good for us to be here today to honor our fathers, and grandfathers. My father, my step father, was a great man in the fact, that he took on 3 boys and married my mom. He raise us in the right way. Teaching us 3 boys how to survive in the wilderness, if we had too. We would camp, fish, take long hikes in the forests, and even teach and show us how to be responsible adults as we matured.

We are here today to give honor to all fathers and grandfathers. But most of all we are here to honor the Father of All fathers, The Father in heaven who gave us the gift of His son Jesus. (Matthew 3:17; Mark 9:7)
