Advice From the Old Book: Pride

The Old Testament was written for our learning (Rom. 15:4). Let’s study what is said of sinful pride -

  • The prideful person doesn’t think about God - Ps 10:4

  • Bragging on oneself is a character of evil - Ps 36:2

  • Never be proud of sinful behavior - Ps 52:1-3

  • God will not protect the haughty and proud - Ps 101:5

  • Pride and haughtiness will precede failure - Prov. 16:18

  • Godly people hate pride and arrogance - Prov. 8:13

  • Always prefer patience over pride - Eccl. 7:8

  • Woe to those who are wise in their own eyes - Is. 5:21

  • Beware of pride of your talents and blessings - Jer. 9:23-24

  • God hates sinful pride - Prov. 6:16-17
