Will The Body Be Raised? continued from July 5th

Then, too, life here is so incomplete, even the longest is insufficient for the fulfillment of half of man’s capabilities. He is often cut off when he is just ready to make some greater advance. A future life is needed for completeness. Life on Earth is short. All of man’s plans are made with the knowledge that he may not live to carry them out "the days of our years are threescore years and ten, or even by some reason of strength 80 years, yet their pride is but labour and sorrow, for it is soon gone and we fly away." (Psalms 90:10)

What is your life?

James 4:14

"You do not know what the next day will bring, for what is your life? For it will be a vapor which appears for a few but thereafter disappears."

Is this yearning then, after perfection of fullness the souls prophecy of its own immortality? Of course, man can believe that it is and say with Addison:

it must be so --- Plato, thou reasonest well --- Else whence this pleasing hope, this found desire, This longing after immortality? Or whence this secret dress, the inward horror, Of falling into naughty? Why shrinks the soul back on herself and startles at the destruction?, 'Tis the Divinity that stirs within us; 'Tis heaven itself that points out a hereafter and intimates Eternity to man. Moreover, God in His word has declared it.

— Addison

"Man will raise from the dead."
